Keeping all the joy to yourself makes the joy smaller. But sharing your joy makes it grow huge!

The Little Lamb Who Learned to Share

Get ready for a woolly wonderful adventure today! We’re meeting a little lamb named Woolly who had the shiniest, bounciest, most perfect red ball in the whole meadow.

Woolly loved his red ball. He played with it every morning. He napped with it every afternoon. He didn't let anyone else even touch it.

"Mine, mine, MINE!" he would bleat happily, nudging the ball closer to his fluffy chest whenever his friends came near.

Woolly's friends—Barnaby the Bunny, Fiona the Fox, and Penny the Piglet—would often gather around, looking longingly at the bright red toy.

"Can I just try one bounce, Woolly?" asked Barnaby, twitching his nose hopefully.

"No way!" cried Woolly. "What if you make it dirty? What if you bounce it too high and it gets lost?"

He was so focused on keeping his ball safe and all to himself that he didn't notice how quiet his corner of the meadow had become. His friends slowly wandered off, finding other things to do. Woolly was left alone with his perfect red ball.

He bounced it. He chased it. But somehow, the game wasn't as fun without anyone cheering or laughing.

One sunny afternoon, Woolly was trying to practice a complicated spin move with his ball. Boing! He missed! The ball flew high over the tall grass and landed right next to Fiona the Fox, who was building a magnificent tower of twigs.

Fiona picked up the ball. It was so smooth and bouncy! She tossed it gently back towards Woolly.

Woolly rushed to grab it, ready to tell her off. But then he saw Fiona’s twig tower. It looked amazing, but it was just missing one small, important piece for the roof.

"That's a fantastic tower, Fiona!" Woolly admitted.

"Thank you, Woolly," Fiona replied kindly. "It just needs a good roof so the rain doesn't get in."

Woolly looked at his perfect red ball. He looked at Fiona’s kind face. He looked at the impressive twig tower.

Suddenly, a new, warm feeling bubbled up inside him. It wasn't the fuzzy feeling of having the ball; it was the bright feeling of wanting to help.

"Fiona," Woolly said, his voice surprisingly soft. "Maybe... maybe my ball could be the roof?"

Fiona gasped. "Oh, Woolly! Are you sure? It's your favorite!"

Woolly hesitated for just a moment. "I am sure. It’s too good to keep just for me. And your tower deserves the best roof!"

Fiona carefully placed the shiny red ball right on top of the twig tower. It fit perfectly! It was the most glorious, bright red roof anyone had ever seen.

"Yay!" cheered Barnaby and Penny, who had rushed back when they saw the commotion.

Woolly felt a rush of happiness bigger than any bounce his ball had ever made. He hadn't lost his ball; he had shared it, and it made him feel ten times happier than before!

The friends spent the rest of the day playing games together. Sometimes they used the tower for hide-and-seek; other times they took the ball down for a giant team game of catch.

Woolly realized something important: Keeping all the joy to yourself makes the joy smaller. But sharing your joy makes it grow huge!
