The Good Neighbor of Jericho

When a traveler is hurt, Sam and his donkey Davi stop to help without question. Through their kindness, Jesus teaches that everyone is our neighbor.

The Good Neighbor of Jericho

(Based on the Gospel of Jesus – Luke 10:25–37)

Along a dusty road between Jerusalem and Jericho, a kind donkey named Davi trotted beside his owner, Sam, a gentle man from Samaria.

One day, they found a traveler hurt by the roadside. Others had passed him by, too busy or afraid to stop. But Sam knelt down, cleaned the man's wounds, and lifted him gently onto Davi’s back.

They walked together to the nearest inn, where Sam paid for the traveler’s care and whispered, “Heal well, friend.”

Later, people asked Jesus, “Who is my neighbor?”

He told them about Sam and Davi—the ones who showed love without asking who deserved it.

Lesson: A true neighbor is someone who shows kindness to anyone in need.
